This week, Melanie released a 19-second trailer for the movie that will accompany her upcoming album.
And Thursday, she revealed the cover art for that album, called “K-12.”
“K-12” will be Melanie’s first album since her 2015 “Cry Baby” project made her the most successful alumni ever from The Voice.
That album went platinum, hit number six on the Billboard 200, hit number one on Billboard’s alternative albums chart and spent a record two consecutive years on the Billboard 200.
There’s no release date for “K-12” yet. But in a February update to fans on Instagram, Melanie says “safe to say end of summer.”
She also said the album has been done for nearly two years, but she’s been working on finishing the self-directed film.
And, since it’s a concept album, there will be no singles leading up to the release. And album and film will be released simultaneously.
Think new material from Melanie isn’t highly anticipated?
Think again. The movie trailer had already been viewed nearly 2 million times by Thursday night.
