Mid-December release for Crystal’s first album

Crystal Bowersox's first album is due out in mid-December. (AP Photo)Update: In a tweet sent out Tuesday night (Oct. 26), Crystal indicated her album will be called “Farmer’s Daughter” and will be released Dec. 14.

“Almost finished :)” she tweeted.

Great news, because if “Farmer’s Daughter” is the name of the album that wonderful original song from Crystal must be on it.

Original blog: Sounds like we have a date — sort of, at least — for the release of Crystal Bowersox’s debut album.

In a tweet sent to a fan about five hours ago, Crystal wrote “Not sure about the single, but the album is due December 14th or 16th I believe. Sounds like I’m having an album baby.”

What she’d been having is a bit of a tussle with her record company over the release date, judging from past reports.

At one point, Crystal had been pushing for a spring release. Her record company had apparently been pushing for a pre-Black Friday release.

Today’s tweet matches the information on Amazon.com, where you can pre-order Crystal’s album, which is listed for release on Dec. 14.

Another bit of good news. In a recent interview with 105.1 The Morning Mix, Crystal said all but one song on the album will be originals that she wrote or co-wrote.

And she says her producer has been open to her ideas about how those songs should sound.

“These are songs that I wrote,” she said. “I think for someone to take a song that I wrote and do whatever they want with it isn’t right. I have a lot of input. I have to make the label happy as well.”

You can hear the rest of that interview here.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that “Farmer’s Daughter” will be among the originals included on the album. Here’s a link to her performing the song at the recent Pinktober event, where she appeared with Melissa Etheridge.

And I’m hoping that the Crystal music we get in mid-December won’t be too different from her pre-Idol days.

That isn’t always the case. Just listen to Lee DeWyze’s first single as exhibit A.
