At a time when EPs are more common than full-length albums, Morgan Wallen did something quite unusual Friday.

He released “Dangerous: The Double Album,” a collection of 30 songs he says he’s been working on for the past three years.

Fans sure aren’t complaining. “Dangerous” soared to number one on both the iTunes overall and country albums charts.

“The double album idea started off as just a joke between me and my manager because we had accumulated so many songs over the past couple of years,” Wallen said when he announced the album in November.

“Then quarantine hit, and we realized it might actually be possible to have enough time to make it happen.”

The first half of the collection — featuring standout tracks like “Sand in My Boots,” “Wasted On You,” “Neon Eyes” and a collaboration with Chris Stapleton (“Only Thing That’s Gone”) — is the most impressive.

“This Bar” is the standout song on a cliche-laden second disc while “More Than My Hometown” is an example of a track where the cliches become almost too much to bear.

And after Morgan’s drama-filled, delayed appearance on Saturday Night Live, it should surprise no one that the album release featured some drama as well.

WalMart apparently leaked the album a couple of days before the official release date, prompting Morgan to post a video to Instagram encouraging fans to buy physical copies of the album at Target instead.

He never shops at WalMart, anyway, Morgan says in the video. Besides, he adds, the Target version includes a couple of bonus tracks.

Morgan was a contestant on Season 6 of The Voice.
