David Archuleta, Idols on the Music Chart

Music charts: A #13 debut for David Archuleta

15

The new album from David Archuleta is number 13 on the Billboard 200.The latest music charts are out, and David Archuleta’s newest album has landed at number 13 on the Billboard 200.

That places him behind debut albums from Toby Keith, Bruno Mars and Waka Flocka Flame, but in front of debuts by Faith Evans, Guster and Pimp C.

In contrast, David’s first post-Idol album, released during the height of the holiday shopping season back in 2008, debuted at number two. His Christmas album, released last October, peeked at number 30 on the Billboard 200.

So will number 13 be lucky or unlucky for David?

Here’s hoping it’s lucky.

“The Other Side of Down” is a solid pop album, better in my estimation that his first post-Idol effort. The title track and the closing track — “My Kind of Perfect” — are superb.

Among other music chart highlights for Idols this week: Carrie Underwood’s latest single, “Mama’s Song,” advanced three more spots to number 14 on the country singles chart.

A complete rundown of all the Idols and how they fared this week follows.

I love David’s new album, it gives me such a good feeling. I have so much respect and appreciation for David, he wanted this album to show who he is, his personality, his feelings and he stuck to it and did a fantastic job. Not a bad spot on the charts, there will be so much more to come from David…what an incredible young artist he is.
Love the first track and the last track too, two of my favorites. I enjoy every song on this album, it really makes me smile and feel great. Thank you David, I’ll be a supporter for the long haul. Can’t get enough of this guy!

What can you say about this boy genius “The Other Side of Down” is wonderfully written and beautifully sung! I do hope that #13 will be a great number for him and futher weeks will see that number climb. I am still amazed as I tell people they have no idea his album is even out. Who I Am is great too! They all are!!

I really love David’s album. My favorite songs are Good Place, Elevator, Falling Stars, My Kind Of Perfect. But all songs are great. They have a personality and a good message, so you can listen them on repeat and never get bored or get stressed. Some artists have a hidden negative lyrics and after the repeated listen the people start get angry. But not with David’s songs. More you listen to them, more you feel better, you smile wider and want to become a better person. I also think some songs showed really innovative sounds even though Jive tried to get their way and limit him to what they think public will like. David is the future of music. He is such a talented songwriter and that voice is heaven. If you get a chance to hear him live, go for it, that experience you will never forget.

Thank you for your mention of David Archuleta’s new cd! It is THE BEST cd I have ever purchased! How many cd’s have you bought where you liked every single song on it? Well, this cd leaves me in such a great mood and the vocals are just unreal. Nobody has a voice better than David’s, and his songwriting skills are really brilliant too! I love that he cares about the message his music brings. You don’t get some boring, repetitious, over-produced music with this genius….you get meaningful and yet, fun, music that will make your day! Thanks again for your support of this album – I,too, hope that it will continue to climb the charts. I am ready for my radio stations to stop playing some of this negative, mind-numbing stuff and bring on some real music, like David’s! Oh yeah, my favorites today are “Good Place” and “Who I Am” but I just LOVE each track!

I pre ordered David’s cd. It is absolutely beautiful, the photo box, DVD and bracelet and of course the CD. I am in heaven, each song is wonderful. Elevator, Somthing Bout Love, My Kind of Perfect and Things Are Going To Get Better, fantastic. And all the others too! Buy his CD you will not regret it.

My Kind of Perfect is the best, perfect. And so is Good Place. I feel that these two come straight from David’s heart. Then I think he wrote Things are Gonna Get Better for all the good causes he is involved with….it certainly fits all of them. As for the rest of the songs, I’m like Becca said, my favorite changes every day. And that is because they’re all good. I want to be hearing them ALL on radio stations and I want to SEE DAVID on all the talk shows, singing these songs. Is it just me,or is he being overlooked? Am I so eager that I’m trying to rush things along? What can we do to get him more TV exposure? I’m sure willing to do everything possible.

I’m in total agreement, title track and My Kind of Perfect, are superb! The whole album is great and I’m enjoying each song. Falling Stars and Who I Am are two more favorites, but it’s hard to settle on any one song as a favorite when it comes to David’s music, he does it all so well. But between me and you, My Kind of Perfect, really is just that, perfect.
