* Jake Hoot, the Season 17 champ, and wife Brittney team up for their first duet on the lovely “Wherever Time Goes.” It’s a song about realizing how precious time is, Jake told Country Now. “I think, as we get older, we get in such a hurry and such a fast-paced mentality that we tend to let so many precious moments pass us by without even realizing that we let it happen,” he told the site. “I think taking a step back and going, ‘You know what? … I have so much time left on this earth, and in this life, wherever that time goes, I want it to be with the people I love.’” Jake and Brittney, a nurse, were married about a year ago. Jake has a 6-year-old daughter, Macy, from a previous marriage. A music video is also planed for “Wherever Time Goes.

* Dexter Roberts, third on Season 16, has released his first single. It’s a country-rocker “Country as Country Comes.” Says Dexter in a behind-the-scenes video: “A lot of country singers don’t get to experience the country life and country as country comes. That’s a blessing to me that I’ve got to grow up in it and live it first hand.” Dexter, you might recall, also made the Top 7 on Season 13 of American Idol.
