After all, she starred in her own indie film back in 2012 and competed on America’s Got Talent in 2013.
The teenager isn’t about to let her elimination from American Idol stop her.
“It’s what you do after the fact that shows character,” Olivia told the media the day after her Idol ouster.
“For me, I love writing music so much. That’s my number one passion, with singing of course. To possibly write my own record would be my dream of all time.”
She’s likely to get the chance after cracking the Top 10 on the final season of Idol.
Thursday, Olivia landed in the bottom three along with Gianna Isabella and Avalon Young. After all three performed, the judges decided to save Avalon.
Following Olivia’s high-energy save-me performance of Pink’s “Trouble,” a couple of the Idol judges said they were hoping for more vulnerability.
Ironically, Olivia said she went into the week thinking of singing Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly,” but was talked into doing something more upbeat by folks behind the scenes.
“Trouble” turned into one of her most fun performances, she added.
Olivia said she’ll definitely miss the friends she made on the show and that the elimination was the most difficult part of the experience.
But she has a simple saying on the back of her phone that helps her cope.
“It says, ‘Stay humble and remain positive.’ It’s those words that help me get through.”
Highlights of her Idol experience include being mentored and performing with Season 7 winner David Cook; she calls it “a dream come true.”
And she picked up some helpful pointers along the way. Like to make sure to perform to the camera and keep her eyes open to make a connection with the audience while singing.
Heck, the gal who auditioned at age 16 even got some sage marketing advice.
She said her favorite on camera moment was when the judges were talking about potential touring merchandise and suggested the slogan: Olivia Rox; Yes, she does.
“I really want to make a t-shirt of that. I think that’s the coolest thing anyone said.”
