Paxton Ingram earns instant save on The Voice (photo gallery)

Carson Daly called it one of the closest instant save votes in the history of The Voice.

And in the end, Paxton Ingram got that instant save, by less than 100 votes.

He’ll advance to the Top 8 on The Voice next week, meaning Nick Hagelin heads home in ninth place.

Meanwhile, Paxton will be joined in the semifinals by Adam Wakefield and Mary Sarah as Team Blake remains the only one intact heading into next week’s quadruple-elimination show.

Tuesday’s results hardly qualified as a shocker. Paxton and Nick wound up at the bottom of this week’s iTunes results, landing 40 spots lower on the site’s singles chart than any of the other contestants.

Paxton performed “How Will I Know” for his save-me song. Nick sang “Change the World.”
