Wednesday, of course, marks the premiere of the farewell season of American Idol.

But People’s Choice awards will also be doled out beginning at 9 p.m. on CBS, and several singing show stars are up for honors.

In fact, former Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres has already been named recipient of the People’s Choice Humanitarian Award. That announcement came down Monday.

And Jordan Smith, Season 9 winner of The Voice, will be one of the performers during the show.

That’s fitting because The Voice is vying for its third straight win in the Favorite TV Competition Show category. It’s up against America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, Dancing with the Stars and MasterChef.

A singing show has won the category each of the past six years. American Idol took the honor each year from 2010-2012; The X Factor inexplicably won in 2013 prior to The Voice’s recent dominance.

Other singing show nominees include:

Maroon 5, fronted by Adam Levine, and Fifth Harmony are nominated for favorite group along with Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons and One Direction. Maroon 5 won last year.

Blake Shelton and Keith Urban are nominated as favorite male country artist along with Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan.

Carrie Underwood and Cassadee Pope are nominated as favorite female country artist along with Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire.

Kelly Clarkson is nominated as favorite pop artist along with Ed Sheeran, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.

Nicki Minaj is nominated as favorite hip-hop artists along with Big Sean, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa.

Steven Tyler is nominated a favorite music icon along with Madonna, Paul McCartney, Price and Stevie Wonder.
