Season six American Idol contestant Phil Stacey will perform at Sovereign Bank Stadium in York on Friday, May 27, as part of an Advancing Honor Rally planned on Memorial Day weekend.

The event is free. You just need to email [email protected] to reserve seats, according to Andrew Tome, the primary organizer of the event.

Tome, senior pastor at Lighthouse Fellowship and Christian School, said he was inspired to host such an event after attending Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor in America rally in D.C. last year.

And while he’s a senior pastor and the York 912 Patriots will have a presence that day, Tome said it won’t be a political event and folks of any religious belief should feel comfortable attending.

The goal, he said, is to have people “walk away believing they can make a difference.”

The event will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. (gates open at 6:30 p.m.) Stacey will perform for 45 minutes to an hour. The evening will also feature brief speeches and an inspirational ending, Tome promised.

After Idol, Stacey released a self-titled country album in 2008, then followed it up with a well-received Christian album (“Into the Light”) in 2009. “You’re Not Shaken,” a single off that album, cracked the top 20 on Billboard’s Christian singles chart.

Phil toured with Christian artist Michael W. Smith in support of the CD.

And there’s another reason he’s perfect for the event in York, Tome said.

“He’s also a veteran, which ties perfectly into this whole message,” Tome said.

Here’s betting Phil performs “Old Glory,” one of his most popular songs, at some point during the evening.
