Rain and unseasonably cold weather greeted Haley Reinhart on her return to Wheeling, Ill., Saturday.

But so did hundreds of friends, relatives and fans.  “This is unbelievable,” she said, according to Patch.com. “It’s raining and you’re still here. You’ve got your umbrellas and you’re camped out. You’re nuts!”

In Wheeling, Village President Judy Abruscato proclaimed Saturday “Haley Reinhart Day.”

While there, Haley made a surprise visit to a pool center where she used to work and answered questions for about 400 fans at Wheeling High School, where she graduated.

Her day also included a free concert at Arlington Park, the same park Lee DeWyze played last year en route to his Idol victory.

Oh, Haley also received that all-important text message during her visit home, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. It bore the message  that she’d be singing Alanis Morisette’s “You Oughta Know” on Wednesday’s show.
