Pia Toscano

Pia brings luck to the L.A. Kings one more time

Update: Well, it worked.

Pia sang and the Kings won, 6-1, to capture their first-ever Stanley Cup.

Wrote Pia after the game: “Congratulations the the LA Kings! Thank you so much for letting me sing & for allowing me to be a part of this incredible experience!”

Former American Idol contestant Pia Toscano will serve as the official national anthem singer for the Los Angeles Kings one last time tonight.

Toscano has been something of a good luck charm for the Kings late in the 2011-12 NHL season, singing the national anthem before each of the team’s home playoff games.

The arrangement has worked out pretty well. The Kings, the eighth and last seed in their division, are one win from clinching their first-ever Stanley Cup title.

Of course, they once led their series with the New Jersey Devils, 3-0.

After the Devils’ 2-1 win Saturday night, the series stands at 3-2 in the Kings’ favor. The Devils are trying to become just the third team in NHL history to force a game seven after being down 3-0 in the finals.

And game seven, if needed, would be Wednesday in New Jersey.

Tonight’s game will be televised at 8 p.m. on NBC, which means a national stage for Pia, who is still working on her debut album.
