She’s determined to do the same with her first post-Voice single, “Wrong Woman,” which dropped midnight Friday along with the accompanying music video.
And you’d have to think her powerful, passionate vocal is going to impress.
RADHA said she picked the song partly because she thinks the title itself will pique music lovers’ curiosity, partly because she thinks the message will resonate with listeners.
“‘Wrong Woman’ is different compared to all the other songs I’ve ever written,” explained RADHA, who was 20 when she auditioned for The Voice and had already released a string of singles still available on Apple Music and Spotify.
“It definitely reflects my growth as a singer-songwriter and how I immerse myself into a song with my real-life experiences,” she told Voice Views. “This song is written from a mature standpoint based on heartbreak and emotional doubt.”
While the single delivers the powerhouse vocals she was known for on The Voice, RADHA said it also shows off “a different, more vulnerable side of me.”
“I carefully wrote this song to illustrate feelings of betrayal and true intuition,” she said. “In addition, I feel that ‘Wrong Woman’ ties with women empowerment today. Looking deeper into the lyrics, it touches on feelings of insecurity and despair as a woman.
“It encourages speaking up against being mistreated, misled, and misunderstood … It represents that as women, we are more than capable to flourish in society and that we shouldn’t feel silenced.”
RADHA says more original music is coming, including an EP she hopes to release this spring. In addition to the new music, she’s working with her manager Magnolia on a merchandise line and booking shows for later this year.
Speaking of shows, she has a big one coming up Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Chelsea Music Hall in New York. She and Season 15 Voice friends Foushee, the OneUp duo, Zaxai and Tyshawn Colquitt for a night of great music. For more on the show, head here.
