Sawyer Fredericks probably didn’t give the answers some people expected in his post-show press conference after winning The Voice.

What’s he plan to do next?

“I kind of want to get back to the farm just to have a break from all of this,” the Season 8 winner said. “I’m excited to get back home.”

Doesn’t he want to hit the ground running and move to L.A.?

Sawyer, now the youngest champ in the history of The Voice, just laughed.

“I do not want to move to L.A.,” he said.

At which point Carson Daly interejected: “What my client means is, he’s going to go back to the farm and reassess where he’s at.”

Heck, considering the success Sawyer had on The Voice, including nine straight songs that hit the Top 10 on iTunes, they might bring the recording studio to him.

Pre-Voice, Sawyer lived on Windrake Farm in Fultonville, N.Y., with 19 cows, 14 hens, two roosters, two pigs and one donkey. And his family, of course.

He was home-schooled and admits he pretty much kept to himself except when he’d perform at open mic nights or a local farmer’s market.

When Wednesday dawned, Sawyer had a new car (though he doesn’t yet have a license), a new recording contract and a new single that was still number two on iTunes Top 200 as of noon. Oh, and that single — “Please” — was written for Sawyer by one of his musical idols, Ray Lamontagne.

After Tuesday’s season finale, Sawyer credited coach Pharrell Williams with a good deal of his success for allowing him to stay true to himself musically.

As for that finale, he says he was most nervous about singing with John Fogerty. Sawyer says he’s always been a fan of Creedence Clearwater Rivival; “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” was the second song he learned when he got into music.

As for the hoopla of being the new Voice champ, Sawyer says he doesn’t think he’ll ever get used to being a celebrity.

He might have to.

During the press conference, Pharrell was asked what it was like to beat Blake Shelton. Pharrell said it was more meaningful to see Sawyer win.

“Right when you think it takes one thing to make it, you have to be this or you have sing this kind of song or you have to dress this way or you have to talk this way, here’s a guy (Sawyer) that possesses this ability to tap into something that we all know is bigger than us,” Pharrell said.

“And he’s humble. And he’s proud of being a farmhand. And he’s named all his animals, believe it or not. And he has this amazing life that he wouldn’t trade for anything. And he is the one who won.”
