Scotty’s ‘Clear as Day’ hangs tough on country chart

This week, a third album bumped Scotty McCreery from the number one spot on Billboard’s country album chart.

Scotty’s latest two-week stint atop the chart was spoiled by Lady Antebellum’s “Own the Night.”

Previously, Toby Keith’s “Chaney’s Tavern” and Miranda Lambert’s “Four for Record” took turns in the number one position.

But Scotty’s album is hanging tough. It’s been number one or number two every week since it’s release.

Pretty impressive. It’s also still number 11 on the Billboard 200, down two spots from a week ago.

Other chart highlights:

* Mandisa reached a new peak of number eight with the “Waiting for Tomorrow,” the second single off her Grammy-nominated third album.

* Daughtry’s “Break the Spell” drops fro eight to 14 on the Billboard 200 in its second week on the chart.  It’s the number three rock album in the land.

* Kelly Clarkson’s “Mr. Know it All” continues to perform well on a variety of charts. It’s number three among adult pop songs for at least the third straight week, stuck behind “Moves Like Jagger” from Maroon 5 and “Someone Like You” from Adele.

Here’s the complete chart rundown.
