Smash’s Katharine McPhee back on the music charts

2

What a difference a hit TV show makes.

For Katharine McPhee, that is.

When she released her second album back in January 2010, not a whole lot of people seemed to take notice.

Even the buzz about the Season 5 beauty going from brunette to blond didn’t help.

“Unbroken” spent just two weeks on the Billboard 200. The lead single — “Had It All” — made it to 22 on the adult contemporary chart.

And then it was gone.

Of course, now that she’s competing to portray the most famous blonde of them all on “Smash,” Katharine’s back in the limelight.

She’s featured in the June edition of Glamour magazine. She made the Sexy List for InStyle magazine’s June edition.

And she and co-star Megan Hilty are featured on the cover and the new edition of Emmy magazine.

But that’s not all. Kat’s back on the music chart as well.

“Touch Me,” a song she performed on Smash, has been one of the biggest movers on Billboard’s dance/club play chart for the past two weeks.

In two weeks the song has gone from 24 to 17 to 12 on the chart.

And the Smash soundtrack is at 109 on the Billboard 200 — it debuted at number 9 — six weeks after its release.

The 13-track album includes six other songs featuring Katharine.

Want more?

Well, Katharine’s been tweeting about working on “my record.”

Now, for those of you who didn’t watch Smash and haven’t heard “Touch Me,” here’s the song …
