Live Playoffs, Season 3, The Voice

Sylvia Yacoub leads Night 2 contestants on iTunes chart

1

Last night, Trevin Hunte got to close out the show on night 2 of the live playoffs on The Voice.

But I thought Sylvia Yacoub delivered the night’s best performance, sitting behind her piano and delivering a passionate rendition of “The One That Got Away.”

Music lovers seem to agree.

As of 10:30 a.m. this morning, Sylvia’s song was doing the best on the iTunes singles chart, checking in at number 33.

Trevin’s version of “How am I Supposed to Live Without You” ranks second among performances from Wednesday’s episode of The Voice at number 46.

But here’s an interesting note — three days after the show, Amanda Brown’s cover of “Dream On” is besting all the other Voice performances on the chart, checking in at number 27.

Three of last night’s competitors — Diego Val of Team Cee Lo and Adriana Louise and Devyn DeLoera of Team Christina — are nowhere among the top 200 on the iTunes singles chart. That can’t be good news for them.

Meanwhile, several Monday night performances still are, including Melanie Martinez, Cassadee Pope, both still ranking among the top 150.

Others charting from Wednesday night are as follows.

Team Christina, in addition to Sylvia at number 33 …

* Dez Duron with “Wanted” at number 76

* De’Borah with “Who Knew” at number 194 (and deserving of much better)

Team Cee Lo, in addition to Trevin at number 46

* Nicholas David with “My Everything” at number 62

* Cody Belew with “One More Try” at 66

* MacKenzie Bourg with “What Makes You Beautiful” at 77.

Check back tonight. I’ll be live blogging beginning at 8 p.m. as The Voice selects a final 12.

Yeah, they selected their final 12 alright, and De’Borah was ousted, among some of my other favorites. The problem with these shows is that many will disagree because taste is so subjective. It was sad to see Mr. Castillo and Joselyn Rivera go home, but the audience and mentors got it pretty right.
