For those of you clamoring for the latest information on the upcoming area concerts featuring David Archuleta (Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster) and David Cook (Tuesday, March 24, at Penn State York), here it is.

Penn State York has just confirmed that, yes, David Cook (right) will be coming to the Pullo Center for a 7:30 p.m. concert on March 24.

Tickets are $29.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Pullo Center box office will be open for a special sale that day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tickets can also be obtained by calling 717-505-8900 or by going to the Pullo Center Web site at http://www.pullocenter.psu.edu/.

Marketing Manager Jill Livengood gives credit for landing the gig to “our fearless director,” Vickie Hubbard. Jill said Vickie heard a college tour might be a possibility for David Cook, made the right connections and, presto, Penn State York wound up with a date on the Idol’s 37-show schedule.

He’ll be the first Idol to play at the Pullo Center, which opened in August 2005 and seats 1,016. And Livengood said folks at the Pullo Center have high hopes for a sellout — perhaps even on Saturday — so if you’re planning to go, you’ll want to snag your tickets quickly.

As for David Archuleta’s show at The Chameleon Club, tickets will only be available through Ticketmaster, according to Steve Entrekin, the club’s assistant manager. Tickets are $25 and also go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m.

Jeez, it’s like these guys are forever linked. They finished one-two on season seven of Idol. Their first CDs were released about the same time. Their tickets go on sale the same time.

Fortunately for Idol diehards, their concerts aren’t the same night, so you could watch both live.

Now, some things you should now about the Chameleon Club. It’s a club, not a theater. “We have no seats,” Entrekin wrote in an email about the upcoming show. “We are a general admission/standing-room only venue. FYI — There are multiple levels and not everyone will be able to see perfectly.”

The Chameleon is also a cash-only venue, with an on-site ATM. David’s show is open to all ages, but only those over 21 will be served alcohol.

The Chameleon has hosted Idol competitors in the past, Entrekin said. The list of musicians who have performed there is exhaustive. Of Idol finalists though, the only previous appearance I could find was by season four runnerup Bo Bice, who played The Chameleon in February of 2006.
