The Voice ditches iTunes covers for early rounds of Season 15

So you can’t find iTunes versions of the cover songs from Monday night’s Season 15 premiere of The Voice?

There’s a good reason for that. They don’t exist.

The Voice is trying something different in Season 15, according to Abby Freemire of MPRM Communications. She coordinates artist publicity for the show.

iTunes singles are being held back until the live shows, she says.

Instead, there’s “a curator page on Apple Music with playlists made by the coaches, former artists, and the original versions of the songs performed on the show each week.”

The move is disappointing in the sense that it means at least half of the contestants from Season 15 won’t be able to see their hard work on a platform like iTunes.

And it means fans will miss out on a chance to download or stream some unique covers for their listening pleasure. My iTunes library still includes Christina Grimmie’s Season 6 blind audition cover of “Wrecking Ball.”

But the move is also sorta understandable.

No one was downloading early-round iTunes covers by Voice artists for voting purposes when those shows aired.

And the covers hadn’t been doing particularly well on the download charts. During the Season 14 blind auditions, just two songs cracked the Top 200.

Anyway, that’s why you can’t find the iTunes downloads.

Update:
Apple Music versions of The Voice songs will return, with a voting twist

They also are not having duets from the battle rounds available on ITunes! I wanted to download “Angel” by Katrina Cain vs. Rachel Messer but it’s not there!

No. My understanding is that there will be no iTunes versions for the blinds, the battles or the knockouts. I’m trying to confirm that they’ll be back for the live playoffs.

Sad, we have had several we wanted to download, will the older ones be available?

They haven’t taken down the ones from past seasons. But none are available from this year’s blind auditions, battle round or knockout round.

This is not correct. No songs from season 15 of the voice are available on iTunes, even during the live shows.

Apple music versions of the covers will be available beginning next week. But I agree, they should be available for all performances, like in the past.

Obviously none of the decision makers took the contestants, their family and friends into consideration. These recording were irreplaceable keepsakes. What a kick in the teeth to fans of the show that are lovers and collectors of music!

Couldn’t agree more. I downloaded multiple blind audition songs from prior seasons and there were two I wanted from Season 15. This SUCKS! Boo to The Voice.

Noooooooo!!! I was SO looking forward to Makenzie’s “I Believe In You and Me” (slayyyyyyed it!!) and DeAndre Nico’s “Oridinary People” 🙁
And this is definitely a bummer for contestants to have a Studio Version keepsake of their early/first Live performances!!
Good thing you can still catch them on the Voice Youtube channel. But still ….. sigh …

And keep in mind that the YouTube performances disappear after 2 years.

I am what would be considered old school. I downloaded almost every one of the cover songs. To me thw unique variation given to the older songs is what makes music as powerful as it can be. This might make my family discontinue watching the voice.

Sandy Redd is off the show and I can’t find her last performances on iTunes. She was amazing and I’d like to buy her tracks.

Performances for the Twitter save are never posted to iTunes. The only performances posted this year will be the Monday night songs, from Top 13 night forward.

I thought it was too bad that you couldn’t download “Waterfalls” by Blake, Gwen, Alisha and Adam. That was done beautifully.

I listen for talent that can change up a cover song. It is why I watch. I don’t want Apple Music. i want itunes downloads to keep. Shortsighted.

I can’t find any music for season 16…… what’s up?

I’ve always looked forward to the voice coming on not only to participate but create some of my favorite playlists from them. So now they want your votes for music you will never hear again? What’s the point then. I really don’t look forward to it anymore..it’s just on and getting boring like idol did. I think the show will see a big drop in ratings now. But on the upside I can watch Tucker Carlson instead lol
