Wow, I did not expect to be writing his, but The Voice has sorta shocked me.

The show has unearthed Aubrey Nicole’s full blind audition performance and posted it to YouTube.

All at once: “Yippee.”

For those who don’t recall, Aubrey’s blind audition was montaged when it aired Oct. 7, meaning only a few seconds of her performance aired.

Once The Voice resurrected Trinity’s montaged knockout round performance and posted it to YouTube, Aubrey was the only playoff-bound contestant who didn’t have all of her full performances online.

I immediately recognized the unfairness in that and pointed it out in a blog I posted on Wednesday.

Within 24 hours, Aubrey’s blind audition performance was on YouTube.

I’m hoping, but certainly not holding my breath, that this is the start of a positive trend for The Voice.

I’ve long argued that the show includes enough filler that it shouldn’t have to montage anyone.

I’ve also argued that if it insists on airing only a small part of an artists performance, it should post the full performance to YouTube.

The fact that the show retrieved and posted Trinity’s knockout performance and Aubrey’s blind audition proves that is possible, and that the performance probably already exist in an edited state.

Here’s hoping The Voice posts all montaged performances in the future. Heck, it could start by going back and posted the rest of the montaged performances from Season 28.

Artists invest more time than most viewers realize in preparing these performances. I can’t imagine how disappointing it must be for them and their fans to see only a tiny snippet of the performance televised.

Posting them online would show a new measure of respect for contestants. And it’d be a fan friendly change as well.

    Don’t be fooled.

The producers probably reacted to some backlash from fans.

They are certainly not going to go back and post videos from other seasons.

Considering the winner just seems to get exit interviews and sometimes appears on the following season’s finale.
