The Voice has announced duet pairings for Monday night’s semifinals.
And the big news … Reagan James will be paired with fellow teen Kennedy Holmes.
For those who haven’t watched the semifinals before, here’s how it works.
Each of the eight remaining contestants sing one solo song.
Each of the remaining contestants sing a duet with a fellow contestant, and not necessarily a teammate.
That’s especially true in Season 15, because no teammates have been paired with one another.
MaKenzie Thomas of Team Jennifer and Kymberli Joye of Team Kelly will duet.
Chevel Shepherd of Team Kelly will duet with Kirk Jay of Team Blake.
Sarah Grace of Team Kelly will be paired up with Chris Kroeze of Team Blake.
And, as I mentioned, Reagan of Team Adam will perform with Kennedy of Team Jennifer.
Along with the duet come special voting rules. During the overnight voting window, you can cast one vote per duet via Twitter.
There’s a limit of one vote per Twitter account per duet song. In other words, you can vote for multiple duets via Twitter, but only one time for each duet.
To vote, you have to use specific hashtags, as follows:
Now, I have no idea why the hashtags include a last name for Sarah Grace and no one else.
Nor am I sure whether you can vote by streaming the duet songs. I’ve got questions out to The Voice p.r. team on both those issues.
I know this, these duets didn’t surface until Season 10 and even then, they weren’t used for voting purposes until Season 12. In Season 8 and prior seasons, each semifinalist sang twice.
That seemed fairer to me. With duets, someone is also paired with a show favorite. Someone is also paired with someone coming off the need for a Twitter save. And there always seems to be one pairing that’s a bit of a mismatch.
This season, that would be Chris Kroeze and Sarah Grace. Though I can’t help but remember Chris’ wonderful spin on “Burning House” and can’t forget Sarah’s amazing version of “Amazing Grace.”
I’ll be rooting for them to pull off something magical and, in the process, block contestants who have gotten clearly preferential treatment from the show — Kirk and Reagan — from the finale.

Sarah Grace is her “name”, her last name is Kimberly. #TeamSarahGrace Please learn about the people you are writing about.
First, LOSE THE ATTITUDE! Lots of singers — especially female singers — use their middle name as a last name for stage purposes. That still doesn’t EXPLAIN why both names are being used when casting these votes. Every other singer is going with one name. Using both merely introduces an element of confusion. Great for you. You know Sarah’s middle name. Guess what? You’re one voter. Imagine the thousands of people out there who don’t have that info and are confused because everyone else is using one name as part of the Twitter hashtag and they’re using both for Sarah.
If would have read that properly you would notice he / she said that Sarah Grace is her name, not that Grace is her middle name. Some people have 2 word first names.
