Todd Michael Hall’s time on The Voice ended when Michael Williams was announced as winner of The Voice our-way knockout Monday night.

But the veteran musician from Saginaw, Mich. — Todd was 50 when he auditioned — has big plans for the rest of 2020, including a solo album and the release of a new album with Riot V, the world-touring hard rock band he’s been with since 2013.

On The Voice, Todd turned two chairs with his blind audition performance of Foreigner’s “Jukebox Hero,”
opted to join Team Blake Shelton, then was saved following a battle round match with Joei Fulco.

That’s what set the stage for his participation in The Voice’s first-ever four-way knockout.

Here’s what Todd told Voice Views about his time on the show and his plans for new music.

Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?

Todd: This was a chance to experience a televised musical performance (as well as reality TV show production) at the highest level. I don’t know that I could ever reproduce it myself, but I have certainly been exposed to the amazing amount of effort, coordination, and expertise that goes into making it all happen.

Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?

Todd: “Jukebox Hero,” (his blind audition song) with its energy and the big high notes at the end, is so true to who I am that it has to be my favorite, but I was in such a blissful state for “The Best” duet with Joei Fulco that I remember it very fondly as well.

Voice Views: I realize much is in limbo now because of the pandemic, but what are your post-Voice plans musically? Will your focus be on your solo music or do you plan to go back to performing with Riot when conditions allow?

Todd: My business was shut down for a few weeks, so I took the time to write a lot of songs with a new writing partner. I plan to follow up with a hard rock solo album in the next few months. All my live performances with Riot V were postponed to 2021, so this will be a year for writing music.

Voice Views: Do you have plans to release new music either solo or with one of the bands you’ve been involved with? If so, what can you tell us about that? Sound? Timing? Etc?

Todd: I tend to be a little eclectic. When I write all by myself, the result is usually more like singer-songwriter or pop music. However, rock is a big passion for me. My next solo album will be in the late ’70’s and early ’80’s hard rock vein and should be released by early fall. My next album with Riot V is in the heavy metal style and will hopefully be released before the end of the year.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?

Todd: Compared to some of the other artists on The Voice, my social media following is small, but still, I was overwhelmed by the amount of attention I received from being on national TV. People have been so supportive, which is incredibly heart-warming. My goal with going on The Voice was to reach more people with my music. I’m not sure how long people will pay attention to me, but it sure seems like a step in the right direction.
