Seventeen singers remain on The Voice Season 20.

By the end of tonight’s episode, only nine will remain.

If you’re unfamiliar with how this works, the top vote-getter on each team will advance.

Then each coach will save one of his or her artists to form a Top 8.

The final spot in the Top 9 will be determined by an instant save at the end of the show.

The top vote-getter from each team who didn’t make the Top 8 will sing for that save.

You can vote to save an artist via The Voice app and via the show’s website.

Team Blake: Cam Anthony advanced based on fan voting. Blake then saved Jordan Matthew Young, leaving Pete Mroz and Anna Grace in danger of elimination. My take: I would have preferred a save for Anna Grace. But, remember, she was Blake’s stolen artist and he likely felt more allegiance to original team members. Plus, Jordan performed very well Monday night.

Team Nick: Rachel Mac advanced based on fan voting. Nick then saved Dana Monique, putting Andrew Marshall, Jose Figueroa and Devan Blake Jones in danger of elimination. My take: Rachel is endearing and so easy to root for. And she continues Voice fans trend of backing the very youngest contestants. That Dana needed a save means she’ll probably join the list of female R&B artists who didn’t go as far as they should have on the show.

Team Legend: Victor Solomon won the fan vote. John then saved Pia Renee. My take: Gotta say, this surprised me, because it ultimately led to the elimination of Ryleigh Modig and Zania Alake, the singers I thought delivered the superior performances on Monday. That said, both advancing artists had impressed in the past

Team Kelly: Kenzie Wheeler was voted through. Kelly then saved Gihanna Zoe, putting Corey Ward and Zae Romeo at risk. My take: As the only male country singer in the competition, Kenzie is finals bounds. I would have saved Corey based on his performances to date, but Gihanna shows lots of artistic potential.

The save: Artists who received enough votes to perform for the save including Team Blake’s Pete Mroz, Team Kelly’s Corey Ward, Team Legend’s Ryleigh Modig and Team Nick’s Jose Figueroa.

The artist saved: Corey Ward, giving Kelly three singers in the Top 9.
