American Idol Season 14

Watch for Adanna Duru, Mark Andrew of The Voice on the new season of Idol

Adanna DuruIn the past, we’ve seen former American Idol contestants, like Frenchie Davis and Jamar Rogers, compete on The Voice and do pretty well.

If the spoiler lists I’ve been seeing are correct, we might see a couple of former Voice contestants on American Idol Season 14, which kicks off Wednesday night.

Adanna Duru of The Voice Season 3 and Mark Andrew Pudas of Season 4 are reportedly among the singers who have a shot at making the Idol Season 14 finals.

Adanna, from Southern California, was just 15 when she landed a spot on Team Adam back in September 2012. She was eliminated in the battle round.

Since then, she’s launched a website where she describes herself as a Nigerian-American R&B-Soul/Pop-Dance/Rock singer-songwriter, dancer, choreographer, and musician. She also released a pair of singles — “C.E.O.” and “Amplify” — to iTunes and was planning to release a full-length album this year.

You can hear plenty more from Adanna on her YouTube channel and here’s a link to the bio I wrote about her when she made The Voice.

Mark Andrew PudasMark performed “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” to earn a spot on Team Shakira in Season 4. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in a battle round match with Tawnya Roberts.

I say unfortunately because he had released an impressive debut album back into 2011 as Mark Andrew Pudas; then re-released it in 2013 as Mark Andrew. Head to his YouTube channel to hear the excellent, “Not Cold, But Broken.” Head to his website to hear the equally impressive “Outlaw Song.” Both are on that album.

Mark was 27 when he auditioned for The Voice. From Eden Prairie, Minn., he was working with his family’s roofing business at the time, but obviously hoping to make a living at music. He identifies himself as a “folksy/bluesy singer/songwriter” in his website bio.

For more on his background, here’s the profile I posted when he landed a spot on The Voice.
