Tackling a song made popular by a member of the opposite gender is an old ploy for impressing on singing shows.

And we’re going to witness lots of attempts to do that tonight on The Voice.

Front-runner Alisan Porter will take on Aerosmith. Shalyah Fearing, who once appeared to be a front-runner, will belt out a Sam Cooke tune.

Among the guys, Adam Wakefield, Bryan Bautista and Paxton Ingram will all perform songs made popular by female artists. Heck, Bryan will attempt to pull off a Beyonce favorite.

Here’s a look at the songs being performed on the show tonight. Check back at 8 p.m. when I’ll be live blogging, with song by song grades.

As always, you can check out snippets of the songs on iTunes. But, please remember, downloads don’t count as votes until the show ends. So listen now, download later.
