And the good folks at The Voice have given us a sneak peek at one of the performances.
What a performance it is — two performances, actually, as Jordan Smith and Viktor Kiraly deliver dynamic vocals on different songs.
Please tell me one of the two get a steal. It’d be a shame to see either depart after those efforts.
Of course, this round there are only four steals — one per coach — to go around.
And anyone who advances makes the live playoffs, where viewers at home will start having a say in the outcome.

Now, here’s where the teams stand after two rounds. The number in parenthesis is the number of chair turns the singer earned in the blind audition; the number behind the coaches’ name is the cumulative total for his or her team. Follow the links and you’ll find a profile blog on each singer.
Team Adam (28)
Adam avoided pitting singers who turned four chairs against one another in the battle round. He certainly won’t be able to do that in the knockout round. He lost a four-chair turn with the elimination of Manny Cabo, but gained one when he stole Dustin Christensen from Team Blake. That means six of his eight remaining singers have that claim to fame. And don’t for a minute think Keith Semple and Blaine Mitchell are weak links on this team, not after their very strong battle round performances. There are four saves in the knockouts. I’ll be shocked if at least two of those don’t go to members of Team Adam.

Team Blake (22)
Four of the eight remaining singers on Team Blake are country artists, including Barrett Baber, Blind Joe, Zach Seabaugh and Emily Ann Roberts. County singers have been so well received in the past, that if I’m Blake, I want to take at least two into the live playoffs and see who catches fire with the fans in Season 9. And, of course, there’s always the chance Blake could reacquire Morgan Frazier or pick up Shelby Brown or Summer Schappell during the knockouts as well. Odds are at least one of them will wind up in need of a knockout round steal.

Team Pharrell (22)
Pharrell excelled with youth in Season 8, advancing Sawyer Fredericks and Koryn Hawthorne to the finals. This season, it’s Blake who has the youngest team (four minors), while Pharrell has just Siahna Im and Madi Davis. Of course, Siahna’s been mighty impressive both times she’s been center stage. Unfortunately, we missed Madi’s battle, but the iTunes version of “Riptide” with Sydney Rhame was splendid. If I’m Pharrell, I also want to make sure the public has a chance to vote for Mr. Charisma, also known as Mark Hood.

Team Gwen (15)
Just call this Team Mystery. Seriously, we have missed one performance from four of its members thanks to those dang Voice montage packages. Ellie Lawrence should make the live playoffs based on iTunes’ results alone, but these knockouts were filmed before a coach could take those into consideration. Kota Wade is a female rocker who went off genre for her blind audition. Then, when she rocked in the battles, The Voice decided not to show the performance. Ugh! And if I’m Gwen, I want the public to have a chance to vote for Korin Bukowski, who seems to be striking quite a chord with Voice fans.
