The finals, The X Factor

Who leads on Twitter & FB among X Factor’s final 12?

So, you’ve probably heard by now that you’ll be able to vote for your X Factor favorites via Twitter and Facebook.

On Twitter, it’s as simple as following TheXFactorUSA, then sending direct messages in support of your choice.

On Facebook, simply visit The X Factor USA page.  The show says a tab will be added after Wednesday’s show where fans with Facebook accounts can vote.

Of course, you can still vote the old-fashioned way, by making toll-free phone calls.

But in light of these new methods, I figured it might be a good idea to see which contestants have the most followers on Twitter and likes on Facebook.

And the winner is …

On Facebook and Twitter combined — Melanie Amaro with 12,687 followers on the latter and 12,566 likes on the former for a total of 25,253.  She also has more likes on Facebook than any other contestant.

On Twitter alone, the leader is another of The X Factor ladies, Drew Reniewicz with 17,929 followers as of Tuesday night.  No one else had more than 16,000 as of 9 p.m., though Astro was close and Chris Rene also had more than 15,000.

Want the complete rundown?  It follows, complete with links to each contestant’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

1.  Melanie Amaro, 25,253 combined — 12,687 on Twitter, 12,566 on Facebook.

2.  Astro (aka Brian Bradley, 24,731 combined — 15,984 on Twitter and 7,747 on Facebook.

3.  Stacy Francis, 23,172 — 14,004 on Twitter and 9,168 on Facebook.

4.  Drew Reniewicz, 22,703 combined — 17,929 on Twitter, 4,774 on Facebook.

5.  Chris Rene, 17,764 combined — 15,197 on Twitter, 2,567 on Facebook.

6.  Rachel Crow, 15,958 combined — 14,937 on Twitter, 1,021 on Facebook.

7.  Josh Krajcik, 13,508 combined — 7,187 on Twitter, 6,321 on Facebook.

8.  LeRoy Bell, 11,942 combined — 7,041 on Twitter, 4,901 on Facebook.

9.  Marcus Canty, 11,182 combined — 10,058 on Twitter, 1,124 on Facebook.

10. The Stereo Hogzz, 9,956 combined — 8,143 on Twitter, 1,813 on Facebook.

11.  InTENsity, 9,219 combined — 6,562 on Twitter, 2,657 on Facebook.

12.  Lakoda Rayne, 8,511 combined — 5,683 on Twitter, 2,873 on Facebook.

Now, what does all that mean?

Well, I doubt it’s a perfectly accurate predictor of how the voting will go on The X Factor when fan voting starts Wednesday night.

At the same time, it sure seems to indicate the odds are better for Melanie Amaro than Lakoda Rayne.

Check back Wednesday night.  I’ll be blogging live during the two-hour episode of The X Factor and grading each performance as it occurs.
