York’s Danica Shirey advances again on The Voice

DaNica Shirey advanced to Top 20 on The Voice Monday night.

The first York County contestant on NBC’s hit singing show, Shirey scored a Team Pharrell knockout round win over young Katriz Trinidad.

She sang Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Love for You” and received praise from The Voice judges.

Blake Shelton called her “a perfect singer.” Pharrell said she could be one of the contestants in the running to win the show.

The praise was nothing new for Shirey. Her battle round performance of “Halo” with former teammate Toia Jones was one of the most celebrated during Season 7.

And during the blind auditions, she enticed three of the show’s four coaches to turn their chairs and received glowing reviews for her performance of “Big White Room.”

During the knockout round, teammates are pitted against one another and asked to sing a solo. Their coach determines who advances. The loser goes home, unless stolen by one of the other coaches.

DaNica now advances to the live playoffs, which will air in two weeks on NBC. And, this time, fans will get to vote for their favorites.
