DaNica Shirey’s magical run on The Voice ended Tuesday night, at least for now.

The 25-year-old from York landed in the bottom four on the Top 8 results show Tuesday night, meaning she needed the instant save to advance.

That save instead went to Chris Jamison, though DaNica received praise from coach Pharrell Williams after she sang “I’d Rather Go Blind” in her quest for fan support.

But have no fear, folks. In spite of her elimination, the homecoming celebration set for Wednesday at the Pullo Center will go on.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at the center (1031 Edgecomb Ave., York) at 5:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. DaNica is expected to take the stage at 7 p.m.

“I’m so excited,” DaNica said in an interview aired on NBC affiliate WGAL. “I can’t wait.”

And DaNica should have one last shot coming up to make The Voice finals. Earlier this year, Carson Daly announced that The Voice Season 7 finale would include four singers. And that one of the four would be a wild card contestant. Those eligible include all contestants eliminated since the Top 12 were announced.

During Monday night’s Top 8 performance show, DaNica sang Heart’s “These Dreams.” In pre-performance footage, the R&B/soul singer seemed initially reluctant to take on the 1980s rock hit.

But as rehearsals progressed, she said she discovered a connection to the song. After all, she was performing one day after the four-year anniversary of her father’s death. Her father, Joseph, also served as her music manager, and she says she still dreams about him often.

“I loved the feeling of tonight!” she tweeted after the performance. “I was able to live in the moment and dream about my daddy again.”

Her fans apparently enjoyed the performance, too. It resulted in her best showing on iTunes, hitting number 39 on the overall singles chart and 18 on the iTunes pop chart when voting ended at noon.

But that was only sixth best of the eight singers remaining; three cracked the Top 10 on iTunes overall singles chart.

And in that interview with WGAL, DaNica said her stomach was “in knots” over the results show because she knew she hadn’t amassed as big a Twitter following as some of the other contestants.

But she should take solace in what Pharrell told her after she sang for the save.

“You’ve got a super bright future,” he said, “and I’m gonna be involved.”
