Zach Bridges earned a spot on Season 17 of The Voice by singing one of Blake Shelton’s signature songs, “Ol’ Red.”
And his superb country vocals wound up taking him all the way to the knockout round.
But Blake opted to advance Ricky Braddy from that match rather than Zach, despite the latter’s impressive version of Garth Brooks’ “The Dance.”
That meant Zach’s elimination from the show. But his fans will be pleased to know he’s already working on two post-show singles, which will mark his first new original music since 2017.
Here’s what Zach, 28, from Pearl, Mississippi, told Voice Views about that new music and about his time on the show.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Zach: My biggest takeaway from The Voice is my newfound confidence in myself as a musician. Since I began playing so late in my life, I never really considered myself a musician or a singer. Now I have the confidence and validation that music is what I should be doing.
Voice Views: The battles and knockouts were filmed over the summer. What have you been doing musically since then and where are you hoping The Voice experience leads?
Zach: Since I’ve been back home from filming, I’ve been working my regular job, playing gigs here and there, and really working on writing new material. I hope The Voice experience leads to bigger and better gigs, and eventually a career as a recording artist.
Voice Views: Do you plan to release new music anytime soon? If so, can you tell me about that — what you’re planning, what fans can expect in terms of sound and the timetable for doing?
Zach: I’m in the process of recording two new songs, and I hope to put my first one out around Thanksgiving. It is a song I wrote for my daughter that we are expecting in March. It is called “To My Baby Girl” and it’s basically a letter to her of things I want her to know before she comes into the world.
I know I’m biased, but it’s the best song I’ve written, and I can’t wait to connect with many people with this song. I also plan to release another song early next year or possibly around Christmas. It is called “Scared of a Little Love” and we’ve gotten some good feedback from music row on this one, so I’m excited to put it out as well.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Zach: I met a lot of great people. All of the artists are really genuine and the show is stacked with talent this year. It was an honor to make it to the Top 32 and the Top 8 on Blake Shelton’s team. I hope all of my new followers and fans will keep up with my social media pages and download/stream my new music as it comes available.
