Emmalee, a contestant on The Voice Season 19.

Her audition: Emmalee, 20, of Clarksville, Tenn., auditioned with “How Will I Know” by Whitney Houston. Her a cappella opening prompted quick chair turns from John and Kelly. John called her voice lovely and her tone crystal clear. Kelly liked her cool rendition of the song and said it showed her creativity. Emmalee decided to join Team Kelly.

Here’s more about Emmalee.

* According to her web bio, she’s an indie pop artist and a native of North Carolina who moved to Tennessee at a young age and has been involved in music pretty much all her life.

* She started singing in church at age 5, started playing piano at age 8 and started guitar at age 11.

* She won Nashville Rising Star at age 15 in 2016 when she was still using her real name, Emma Feldman.

* At that point, she had already been leading worship services.

* In her blog, Emmalee says she received that guitar on her 11th birthday and it spurred her interest in songwriting, beginning with a song about her neighbors and the struggles they were facing at the time.

* “It’s been eight years since I first started writing, and I wouldn’t change a moment of this journey,” she wrote in June 2019, on her 19th birthday. “I’ve chosen a career path that is not guaranteed success, and that can be scary, but it’s also taught me to trust in God to provide every need.”

* Emmalee has released five pop singles in the past two years, including 2019’s “They Called Him Jesus,” “Fearless” and “You Say” and 2020’s “Find Your Fire” and “Cover.” You can check out snippets of her two most recent singles below. Both are very good.

* She had released two previous Christian EPs as Emma Feldman, “Pocketful of Raindrops” in 2015 when she was just 15 and “Nothing on Us” in 2017.

* She sums up her goal in music in her web bio, explaining: “Whether I’m writing contemporary Christian or pop music, I want the overlying message of my songs to be that of hope, love, and encouragement.”
