Cassadee Pope from The Voice Season 3

And the 13-song “Thrive” immediately made an impact on the Apple Music charts.

As of noon, 12 hours after its release, “Thrive” was sitting at number 27 on the site’s overall albums chart and at number four on the site’s pop albums chart.

That’s right, pop.

“Thrive” is a clear departure from Cassadee’s post-Voice foray into country music, a change in sound announced by a drug-laden instrumental “Welcome” and the fun, up-tempo and very pop-sounding “Same Old Brand New Me.”

Of course, this is the same Cassadee Pope who fronted the pop-rock-punk group Hey Sunday prior to appearing on The Voice.

“Following your gut can be scary, but my inner voice has never been so loud,” Cassadee says of her new music on social media.

“I’ve found a way to blend my two favorite genres: pop-punk and country. This album is totally and completely me and I’m so excited to finally share it with the world.”

Three of the songs — “What the Stars See,” “Tomorrow Night” and “Say It First” — actually already been shared, released as singles leading up to the album.

But “Thrive” is also filled with new gems, including the sassy “Sis” and the title track and its accompanying music video, which you can check out below.

“I wanted to name the album Thrive because that word explodes with empowerment and endurance,” Cassadee says in a press release.

“The title track talks about not just surviving something but thriving from it, and I’m at a point in my life where I can see how the hard times were necessary. I also feel so unapologetically me in this new project, which makes me thrive in every sense of the word!”

Cassadee was the Season 3 winner of The Voice. “Thrive” was preceded by “Frame by Frame” (2013), “Stages” (2019) and “Rise and Shine” (2020).
