Carlos Rising from The Voice Season 23

Carlos Rising is among the artists to announce they auditioned for Season 23 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, March 6.

Here’s more about Carlos:

* He’s a Wilmington, N.C., based singer-songwriter who has already released music in a varieyt of genres.

* In 2019, he was lead singer of a Christian group called Re.Created that released a five-song, self-titled EP that included the single “You Will Sustain.”

* In 2020, he released an EP called “Burned Out” as a solo artist. He’s since followed that up with a trio of singles. Check out the most recent, “Good Ole Days,” below. It dropped in the summer of 2021.

* Carlos also fronts an indie rock and soul band called Holy Heat that dropped two singles — “Got Over It” and “Mud” — in 2022.

* The child of a pastor, Carlos writes on his website blog that he was influenced by music from Hillsong United, Israel & New Breed, Kirk Franklin, Toby Mac and other popular Christian artists growing up.

* But his parents were also fans of 1970s and 1980s music, including Shania Twain, Sting and Michael Jackson, explaining Carlos’ wide range of musical inflences.

* By age 13, he was making his first attempts at songwriting. By 16, he’d started performing in public.

* He has a bachelor’s of science degree from Lee University in music business.

* Carlos also helps produce music as Schoolhouse Studios in Wilmington, N.C.
