Idol returned to ABC on Sunday, Feb. 18 with the coaching trio of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan back intact.
Here’s more about Abi.
* She’s pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology at California State University with plans to pursue her master’s after that.
* In her website bio, Abi writes that she’s been singing since she was very young, has been playing piano since she was 8 and guitar since she was 15.
* Abi doesn’t appear to have released music, but she’s not a novice performer either. Her website lists lots of 2023 show dates in the Palm Springs and Palm Desert area.
* From Indio, Calif., she has some experience with singing competitions as well.
* Abi participated in Open Call at the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert, Calif., at least five times. The program features training and rehearsals, followed by a series of talent shows featuring each year’s finalists.
* And in 2018, Abi won a guitar giveaway sponsored by blues musician John Carey based on her scholastic achievements and musical talent.
* In a newspaper article about that achievement, Abi talks about winning the Best Vocal Act award at Open Call while performing with her mother.
* “I can’t take full credit for it all, but it will always be my favorite moment ever performing. Having my mom by my side and seeing her happier than ever will forever be a moment I will cherish,” Abi said.
* In her open call profile, Abi says her dream is “To see people smile and be part of the reason they are smiling.”
* She also seems to have a great sense of humor, writing in her most recent Instagram post: “I can’t dance, but could I interest you in a flail, thrash, or wiggle?”
* Abi’s been covering a lot of Taylor Swift on her TikTok lately, and her followers have been loving it. Her “Illicit Affairs” cover garnered more than 250,000 views. Check it out below.
