Emmy Russell took to social media Monday to say she’s at peace with American Idol voters’ decision not to advance her to the Top 3.
And in a separate post, she announced that she’ll have a new song dropping on Friday.
In her message to fans, Emmy said she felt as though “God told me, ‘Emmy, you’re not going to be chosen by America. But I chose you.
So when the results came in, sending Abi Carter, Will Moseley and Jack Blocker to the Top 3, “there was no sense of, ‘Why wasn’t I chosen?'”
Emmy added that the two biggest lessons from her Idol journey is that you can be yourself and still be successful and that you shouldn’t run away from something out of fear of rejection.
In fact, the title of the song she’ll release on Friday is called “Redemption.”
Idol typically has the Top 5 record singles that are released in the leadup to the season finale.
Abi, Will and Triston Harper have announced singles as well.
And while Emmy didn’t make the finale as a competitor still in the running for the Season 22 crown, she’ll still likely be performing that night.
And her run on Idol would have to be classified as an overwhelming success.
Each week, her performances were among the most viewed on YouTube.
Her rendition of “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” her grandmother Loretta Lynn’s signature song, has now been viewed nearly 1 million times on YouTube.
And Emmy’s own single “Skinny” has soared past 800,000 streams on Spotify. That’s the song she auditioned with, then sang again once voting began.
