It’s called “Some People Need Drugs” and it’s designed to raise awareness of different forms of abuse.
Says Abi: “I wrote this song for anyone who has been a victim of abuse, regardless of what that has looked like in their life.
“This song is a reminder that you deserve love.”
According to statistics posted along with the song announcement, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys are estimated to have experienced child abuse.
The new song will follow the wonderful “Peppermint Sky” as Abi’s second since being named the new American Idol.
“Peppermint Sky,” which has an accompanying music video, has passed 170,000 streams on Spotify.
Abi has also announced that she’ll be performing at Stagecoach, California’s country music festival, next April.
Abi will take the stage on April 25, the first day of the three-day festival. Former Idol champs Scotty McCreery and Chayce Beckham will perform on day three. Tickets go on sale Friday.
