Isaiah Misailegalu of American Idol Season 23

American Idol returns Sunday, March 9 with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie returning as judges. They’ll be joined by Carrie Underwood, who replaces Katy Perry.

Here’s more about Isaiah.

* He’s a senior student athlete at Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas, Nev.

* At 5-foot-10 and 350 pounds, he was center and defensive tackle for the Sierra Vista football team. He also plays volleyballl.

* While at the high school, he’s taken part in a unique SV Beats program. which offers instruction in music business, music production and songwriting.

* He’s also part of the SASA (Superior Athletes Successful Attributes) Squad Foundation, an nonprofit organization dedicated to helping athletes find success on and off the field.

* The organization has already been promoting Isaiah’s upcoming appearance on Idol, calling him a true representative of the organization’s mission.

* Isaiah, who uses the handle “Samoan Silk” on social media, has been performing primarily at community events around his home.
