JMarie of American Idol Season 23

JMarie is among the artists who auditioned for the new season of American Idol.

Idol kicked off Season 23 on March 9 with Carrie Underwood joining Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie at the judges’ table.

Sunday will mark the final audition episode before Hollywood Week.

Here’s more about JMarie.

* She’s Jessica Marie Michel, an R&B singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, N.Y.

* And she’s already built an impressive fan base on TikTok, where she has 143,000 followers and more than 2.3 million likes on her video clips.

* Two of those have more than 2.5 million views. They feature JMarie singing Sexxy Red’s “Pound Town” and Muni Long’s “Made for Me” Toni Braxton style.

* On Soundcloud, JMarie writes that she loves to create music with “that 90s R&B feel.”

* She adds that her musical inspirations include Brandy, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blidge and Usher.

* And JMarie’s released music, all of which she wrote, including a debut single called “WTF Did I Marry” that came out last March.

* She followed it up later in the year with an impressive eight-song album called “Love Ptsd.” Check out the music video for the title track below.

* Last month, JMarie posted a snippet of a new song called “East Coast Love” that she says she wrote for “my city,” adding that it’s coming soon.

* As for her Idol audition, JMarie writes this, without revealing whether or not she got a golden ticket.

* “I took a risk on myself — I was terrified and full of self-doubt, and I almost didn’t show up that day because I was so scared of rejection. But I pushed through, and I wouldn’t change this experience for anything in the world.”
