Ethan Senger of American Idol Season 23

Season 23 kickoff off March 9 with Carrie Underwood joining Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan at the judges’ table.

A final audition episode will air Sunday night. Then golden ticket recipients will begin competing in Hollywood Week. Those episodes begin airing Monday night on ABC.

Here’s more about Ethan:

* He’s a 24-year-old singer-songwriter and guitarist from the Atlanta, Ga., area.

* And he’s already released a pair of EPs, a self-titled project in 2020 and a four-song collection called “Standing Still” in 2023.

* “Something to Write About” from the latter collection has been streamed more than 100,000 times on Spotify. “Everything” from the same EP, has been streamed more than 375,000 times.

* In fact, “Everything” was named song of the month by the Songwriter Universe website in March 2024.

* In his web bio, Ethan says he’s a third-generation guitarist. His father, Mark Senger, played guitar for the rock band The Generics for six years. His grandfather was a jazz guitarist.

* Ethan picked up the instrument around age 7 and started writing and recording his own music in his late teens.

* He describes his music as “genre melding pop/rock singer-songwriter” tunes.

* He told Songwriter Universe his inspirations include the guitar work of Eddie Van Halen, the singing of Steve Perry of Journey and the music of Noah Gunderson and David Ramirez.
