Will Moseley, American Idol’s Season 22 runner-up, has a new single out

Will Moseley, one of the standouts on American Idol this time last year, has released his first single of 2025.

“The Mechanic” dropped Friday and is already approaching 100,000 streams on Spotify.

Will wrote the song with Kaylin Robinson and Jaron Boyer.

“Mechanic is one of the best representations to date of my songwriting and the stories I want to tell,” Will said.

“It is one of the only songs of love and healing I’ve ever written, and I couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out.”

Will, of course, finished second to Abi Carter on Season 22 of Idol.

But he’s become Season 22’s streaming king since then.

“Everything But Me,” his previous single, is approaching 1 million streams on Spotify. Will released an acoustic version of that song in January.

And it sounds like fans could be getting a good deal of music from Will

“The biggest thing we’re excited about right now is the music that we’re gonna get to put out in 2025,” he says in a social media post.

And it sounds like fans will have a hand in determining the order of the songs released, based on their reactions to snippets posted on social media.

Oh, and Will recently sat down for an interview with the In the Blind podcast. Be sure to check out his answer about how he navigated Dance Week and Disney Week on the show last year.
