Is Jamal Roberts emerging as the clear favorite on American Idol?
For the past two weeks, when I’ve checked YouTube views on American Idol performance videos, those from Jamal Roberts and John Foster have been the most popular.
Each week, John and Jamal each had the most popular video one night, the second most popular the other night.
This week, they’re at the top again. With one noteworthy difference.
Jamal’s performances from Sunday and Monday are both in the top spot, by a pretty healthy margin.
John is second both nights, with the rapidly ascending Gabby Samone close behind him, especially with her “Hero” cover from Monday’s show.
The number also indicate that Slater Nalley might be the next contestant on the bubble Sunday night, along with Mattie Pruitt, who needed a judges’ save to survive the cut from a Top 8 to a Top 7.
In terms of views, Slater’s performance ranked last among videos Idol posted from Sunday’s show and next to last on Monday’s.

If the “American Idol” winner this season is Jamal Roberts, he will be the first Black male to win since Ruben Studdard in Season Two.
