Two new Idol albums debuted on the Billboard 200 this week.

Daughtry’s third album, “Break the Spell,” checks in at number eight.

That marks the lowest debut yet for the band.  The first album from Chris and the guys checked in at number two; 2009’s “Leave This Town” debuted at number one.

But “Leave This Town” was released in July, not in the heart of the holiday shopping season.

Landing in front of “Break the Spell” this week are new releases by Michael Buble, Nickelback, Rhianna and Justin Bieber (yeah, believe it or not).

And then there’s Idol rocker James Durbin, who finished fourth in season 10.  His “Memories of a Beautiful Disaster” CD debuted at number 36 on the Billboard 200.

Both albums, of course, ranked higher on the rock albums chart.

“Break This Spell” is number two, behind only Nickelback’s “Here and Now.”   James’ album is number eight on the rock chart.

Among other chart news of note:

* Scotty McCreery’s “Clear As Day” debut moves up four spots on the Billboard 200, from 13 to 9.  It’s still number one on the country album chart.

* Mandisa has seen the second single from her Grammy-nominated third album crack the top 10 on the Christian singles chart. “Waiting for Tomorrow” jumps three spots, from 12 to number nine.

* Kelly Clarkson’s “Mr. Know it All” single jumped four spots to 16 on the Hot 100.  It’s number three on the adult pop chart, behind Adele’s “Someone Like You” and Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger,” which features Christina Aguilera.

* The new album from Voice winner Javier Colon, “Come Through for You,” debuts at number 134 on the Billboard 200 and number 20 on the R&B album chart.
