Compared to many of the contestants on The Voice, Lindsey Pavao is a relative novice.
She admitted on the show that she had never performed in front of a crowd bigger than about 40 people.
But she got three judges to spin their chairs for her performance of “Say Aah,” probably thanks to her quirky and distinctive vocals.
And Lindsey isn’t a total novice. According to her Facebook page, she performed with an indie band called A Calourado (MySpace page).
Lindsey also told The Voice she grew up wanting to be an inventor, until she picked up the violin.
Now she writes songs and likes to put her own spin on popular songs.
Her day job is bartending a Zen Sushi & Lounge in Sacremento, Calif., where she lives. She has also studied biology and psychology at California State University.
After her audition, she was asked what kind of artist she sees herself as.
“It sounds kind of weird, but it’s like jazzy grunge music,” she replied. “I listened to a lot of Nirvana and stuff growing up, so that’s sort of where I come from a lot of times.”
Below, you’ll find a song Lindsey did with A Colourado, followed by a performance of “Say Aah” at Zen.
On Twitter, she is simply LindseyPavao.
