After The Voice

Empire-bound Raquel Castro shows off dance moves in her fun new video

this week, I reported that Raquel Castro, a Season 1 contestant on The Voice, had released a new single.

Today, she dropped the accompanying music video.

And she clearly had fun converting her new song, “Young and Dumb,” to film.

She also shows off plenty of dance moves over the course of its three and a half minutes. After all, she is an aspiring singer and dancer.

Here’s what Raquel told WomenFitness.net about the new music.

“I wrote ‘Young & Dumb’ during a great period in my past relationship. I love that I get to express my feelings in my music. It took me a while to find a producer who got my vision musically so when I met Jon Kilmer, who produced ‘Young & Dumb,’ it was like a breath of fresh air.

“I’m inspired by love, and I want my music to be real and relatable. I want it to be that song that comes on and puts you in a good mood.”

Raquel has also landed a recurring role as Marisol, a Latin pop singer, on “Empire,” the hit show from FOX that airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m.

Raquel told WomenFitness.net that she was working in a Long Island hair salon to pay her bills when that opportunity “came from left field.”

This Wednesday’s episode is supposed to be the first in which she appears.

Best known for playing Ben Affleck’s daughter in the 2002 film “Jersey Girl,” Raquel was just 16 when she auditioned for The Voice. She made it all the way to the quarterfinals before being eliminated.

Now 20, she has released two other singles since The Voice — “Diary” in 2012 and “Game Over” in 2013.
