Looking for something a bit different in terms of music or a music video?

Well, Kat Robichaud never disappoints in that regard.

The standout from Season 5 of The Voice — she finished Top 10 — Kat recently released a new music video for a song called “Artists.”

Since The Voice, Kat released one of the best post-Voice albums we’ve gotten, the delightfully different “Kat Robichaud and the Darling Misfits.”

She followed that up by creating Misfit Caberet, a rock opera variety show in San Francisco that includes original songs she writes. In fact, 10 of those songs wound up on a Misfit Cabaret album released earlier this year.

The “Artists” video is one of those songs and the first product of a Patreon.com campaign Kat launched in June. https://www.patreon.com/katrobichaud

Her goal is to release new material – songs, videos “or other artistic endeavors” – on a more frequent basis with the help of her fans.

Why start with “Artists?” For entirely practical reasons, Kat says.

“We had a video concept that was affordable for the current pledge amount,” she explained, saying it costs about $1,500 to shoot and promote such a project.

The compares to $2,000 to $3,000 for recording a new song or filming a more elaborate video.

Kat’s also preparing a new Misfit Cabaret show — called “Horror Show” — just in time for Halloween. The show kicks off Oct. 20 in San Fran, and you can check out all the date on Kat’s Facebook page.
