Could Crystal Bowersox or Lee DeWyze wind up in the bottom three tonight?

Nothing would surprise me after a Tuesday episode of American Idol in which the judges seemed most critical of MamaSox’s performance while heaping praise upon Siobhan Magnus.

Truth be told, none of last night’s performances were very memorable. Except for Siobhan’s, which was memorable for all the wrong reasons — an atrocious outfit, off-key singing and a pointless scream near the end.

“Look who’s back,” Kara proclaimed.

Please, DioGuardi. Were you even listening? Or were you deafened by weeks of Siobhan’s shrieks?

For entertainers tonight, we’re being treated to Sons of Sylvia, Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum and, somewhat oddly, Shakira.

Hey, it’s a bit tough to grumble about an appearance by Lady Antebellum, considering their recent success at the ACM Awards. They’ll be singing the hit, “Need You Now.”

And “Gypsy,” the song Shakira will sing off her latest album, is really good. And, I guess, a little bit country.

Besides, who’s going to grumble about a She Wolf sighting? Not me, at least.

(That’s her at right, striking a pose at the American Music Awards. You remember that night, Idol fans — the night Adam Lambert imploded on stage.)

Still, Idol’s tendency to shun its own continues to baffle me.

What does Sons of Sylvia have to offer, other than perhaps displacing a group performance by the final six? Ah, but they have a new album to hawk.

I mean, how about Danny Gokey, who has a new album of his own?

How about Bucky Covington, from season five, who has a new single?

Heck, how about Kellie Pickler, who’s always fun to have around? Did you catch her tweet last night?

If not, here it is … “Just got my dress caught in the escalator and almost ripped off. My face=3 shades of red.”

Oh, well, maybe Ellen can invite Kellie to her show again so she can tell the story.

But I’d still rather see Kellie, Danny or Bucky on stage tonight, Idol.

I’d add Carrie to the list, but she performed during Idol Gives Back. The only Idol, I might note, out of more than a half-dozen performers.

Oh, well, we’re less than an hour away from the start of the suspense.

After all, someone’s gotta go tonight. Feel free to follow along. I’ll be blogging live throughout the show.

OK, regardless of who’s singing, I’ll take a real performance over an Idol group number any night. Tonight, in its place, we’re treated to Rascal Flatts singing “Unstoppable.”

And now for Idol’s weekly commercial break.

First a Ford video. Hold it, I’m supposed to believe Aaron Kelly as a fear-invoking vampire? That’s a stretch.

Siobhan as a vampire, that’s not a stretch. Hey, the perfect excuse to unleash a few screams.

And the Ford video is followed by an extended in-show commercial for the new Shrek film. I just love when they do this. Total waste of my time. Hope the Shrek folks are paying a lot for the opportunity.

Now, down to results.

Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Aaron Kelly are safe.

Tonight’s bottom three: Michael Lynche, Casey James and … hooray, Siobhan Magnus.

Guess the fans at home weren’t nearly as fooled as the judges last night.

Next up: Sons of Sylvia. I’m not at all impressed. Of course, Idol could be having sound problems again. Alicia Keys sounded terrible during Idol Gives Back, and that’s very un-Alicia like.

Anyway, Danny, Kellie or Bucky could have been every bit as entertaining. Just saying.

Michael Lynch survives to sing another week, leaving Casey and Siobhan in the final two.

I really didn’t expect Casey to be in trouble tonight. I scored his performance as the best from last night.

Meanwhile, what an odd duet from Shakira and Rascal Flatts. Of course, it might have helped if the mike was working. I mean, for crying out loud, Idol, this isn’t supposed to be an amateur production.

Anyway, Shakira alone probably would have been better. Sorta like last night when Crystal Bowersox didn’t need a backup singer.

Siobhan, who has screamed her last Idol scream.

Hold it. Not quite. There’s the exit song.

And, sure enought, there’s that scream.
