When fans look at iTunes results from The Voice, they assume Chloe Kohanski is the favorite to win the show.

True, she’s topped the iTunes singles chart twice in the last three weeks.

True, her last four performances have cracked the iTunes Top 10, earning her bonus points in the process.

And, true, she’s the only member of the Top 4 to hit number one on The Voice in Season 13.

But this is also the same Chloe Kohanski who failed to crack the iTunes Top 200 with her blind audition and whose battle round victory was montaged and failed to hit the Top 200 on any iTunes chart.

In that battle round, Addison Agen and Karli Webster were the show’s iTunes stars with their unique arrangement of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

In fact, Addison enters Monday’s season finale with just as many Top 10 iTunes hit as Chloe (four each). Brooke Simpson and Red Marlow have each cracked the iTunes Top 10 twice.

Regardless of iTunes rankings, fans should remember that downloads alone won’t win the show. Fans of Lauren Duski learned that lesson in the spring. She finished first and second on iTunes following the Top 4 show, yet wound up second to Chris Blue when the results came in.

Consider that an iTunes download counts as one vote. That one vote becomes five, if the singer makes the Top 10 on iTunes. At the same time, fans can vote up to 10 times per contestant per email address on the show’s website.

Most people have one iTunes account; most people have multiple email accounts.

I’ve posted the voting rules here. Or you can check them out on The Voice website.

Two other things to keep in mind — 1) this week the duets will not count toward voting; 2) this week cumulative iTunes voting is also a factor, meaning you can help your favorite by downloading or streaming their previous performances from the show as long as you haven’t yet done so.

Now, here’s a look at iTunes rankings for the Top 4 during the course of Season 13.
