Caroline Pennell of The Voice Season 5 has released a new EP, Phases.

Caroline Pennell has released her first major project since starring on Season 5 of The Voice.

It’s a seven-track EP that’s being billed as a “coming-of-age” project for the 22-year-old.

And that’s an appropriate description, given news songs like “Teenage Sacrifice” and “Every Time I Go Home.”

Caroline, from Saddle River, N.J., has moved to Los Angeles since the show. In a Facebook video, explains that “Teenage Sacrifice” is about redefining what her former home in New Jersey means to her now that she’s “a totally different person.”

“Every Time I Go Home,” she adds in another video, is about finding a place where you feel most at home, most confident.

“I think we’re all wired in that way — to chase the things that make us feel really good and confident. And that ultimately ends up becoming what home is,” Caroline says. “It’s not one place, it’s more like the feeling a place gives you.”

Two of the seven songs on the EP — “Lovesick” and “Drive Me Home” — had already been released as singles.

Both received a warm reception from fans. “Lovesick,” released first, has been streamed more than 23 million times on Spotify; “Drive Me Home” sits at more than 2.2 million streams.

As of noon, “Phases” was sitting at number 29 on the iTunes singer-songwriter albums chart.

Caroline also has been the featured vocalist on several EDM tracks released over the past two years.

As for The Voice, Caroline was just 17 when she auditioned for the show, eventually finishing in the Top 8.

In 2013, pre-Voice, she released an EP called “The Race.”

Here’s “Every Time I Go Home,” perhaps my favorite of the new tracks on the album.
