Terrence was one of just three Season 14 contestants to crack the Top 200 on the iTunes singles chart by noon the day after his audition aired.
He was the only one to crack the Top 100.
Perhaps more impressively, his cover of “My Girl” remained among the Top 20 songs on the iTunes R&B/Soul chart for more than a week after his debut on The Voice.
Terrence told the media that he arranged his unique version of “My Girl” for a friend’s wedding. It also made for the perfect dedication to his daughter when he got the opportunity to audition on national TV.
Thirty-six years old and originally from the D.C. area, Terrence struggled when he made the move to L.A. in hopes of taking his music career to the next level.
He told Voice Views that he’d often crash at hotels, then spend most of the day at Starbucks until check-in time arrived again because he had no where else to stay.
Now he’s a member of Team Alicia Keys and an early favorite on Season 14. He was also one of only five singers to turn all four chairs during the blind auditions.
Below, you’ll find a complete rundown of which blind audition songs charted and where they landed on the charts.
The other two contestants to crack the iTunes Top 200 by noon the day after their audition aired were Molly Stevens of Team Kelly Clarkson and Christiana Danielle of Team Alicia.
A couple of other songs eventually made that chart — including “Sex and Candy” by Drew Cole and “Dream a Little Dream” by Livia Faith — but not by noon the next day.
For the sake of fairness, that’s when I took all of these rankings because that’s when voting ends following a live episode of The Voice.
Also, as I always note, chart to chart comparisons are difficult. The pop and country charts are tougher to climb than the others, for instance.
You’ll note that Pryor Baird of Team Blake scored the only number one hit on a genre chart during the blinds. Also worth noting is that JessLee was the only montaged singer to get her audition song in the Top 200 on a genre chart. That seldom happens.
Here’s the complete rundown. Again, all rankings are as of noon the day after the audition aired.
