Update: Anoop has launched a fundraiser to support his “Zero” project. You can go hear and learn more. For an $8,000 donation, he’ll even “get to know you and write a song inspired by you” for Zero.1 or Zero.2.
That’s right, this “Zero” project is going to be a trilogy, meaning there will be two more releases after the March 23 release of “Zero.0.” And, apparently, donating will be the only way to get a signed physical copy of the CD.
To learn more about the fundraiser and the latest on “Zero,” go here. And, don’t forget, Anoop will have another free download from “Zero” available on Wednesday.
Original blog
Anoop Desai is preparing to release a new EP, “Zero.O” on March 23.
And each week between now and then he’s leaking one song from the EP and making it available as a free download.
This week’s song is “Want Your Love;” you can go here to download it.
A second song will be unveiled Wednesday, followed by a third next week.
The entire EP will also be available for free from anoopdesai.com.
As of April 20, a high-fidelity version will be available on iTunes.
This is all part of Anoop’s new Zero project, which has him working with writers and producers in the Atlanta area.
Anoop finished sixth on season eight of Idol and is less than a year removed from the release of his debut independent album, “All is Fair,” with its impressive lead single, “My Name.”
“I’m especially proud of the fact that I’m writing and producing nearly all of the original material on this album, with a few notable exceptions,” Anoop wrote in a blog posted on his site earlier this year.
Here’s the track list and writers on the 10 songs that will make up “Zero.0.” You’ll note that the only repeat from his debut CD is a remix of “All is Fair.”
And I’ve embedded a YouTube version of “Want Your Love” below for your listening pleasure.
“Zero.0”
1. I’ll Come Running Back to You (Cooke)
2. You Should Be Loved (Simmonds, Sak Pase)
3. OoWee (Desai, Desai/Wonderberg)
4. Wait (Desai, Sak Pase)
5. Want Your Love (Desai, Desai/Sak Pase)
6. Not on Your Side (Cravity, Sak Pase)
7. Worth the Wait (Desai, Desai/Wonderberg)
8. Reverie (Desai/Mikush, Desai/Mikush)
9. Perfect Way (Desai, Desai/Big Shots)
10. All is Fair (Remix) (Desai/Mikush, Big Shots)

Anoop is still me favorite Idol of all time! Love that smooth R&B voice! And it’s just fun to say “ANOOOOOOOOOP!”
Anoop Desai’s vocals are SO pure and his songs are evocative of the feeling he wants you to experience with his music. This is talent that need not be altered with engineered sounds. When an independent artist like this comes along, we need to see everything they have to offer, and Anoop has lots of different kinds of new songs for us!! Bring them on, Anoop!
