Teana Boston was eliminated from The Voice in a battle round match we saw just a small part of earlier this week.

She was one of the show’s youngest contestants, just 16 when she auditioned. And the teen from San Leandro, Calif., had already released music prior to the show.

More is on the way, she told Voice Views, and it doesn’t sound like fans will have to wait very long for that new music.

Here’s Teana’s exit interview with Voice Views.

Voice Views: I know the battles were filmed a while back. What have you been doing musically since then?

Teana: Since the battles were filmed I have been in and out of the studio recording some new music for my debut EP, which is on board to be released late spring.

Voice Views: Where do you see your time on the show leading you musically? Do you envision releasing more music anytime soon and if so, what can you tell me about that?

Teana: I believe my time on the show has led to more of an understanding of who I want to be as an artist. Additionally, it has led to me venturing into new styles and ideas. I’m so excited for everyone to hear what I’ve been working so hard on. My EP is going to consist of a variety of R&B, pop and hip-hop.

Voice Views: Do you think you grew as an artist as a result of The Voice Experience? If so, in what way?

Teana: I’ve grown as an artist through this journey. Kelly Clarkson continuously challenged me to get out of my comfort zone. As an R&B singer I love to do riffs and runs and Kelly challenged me to appreciate the art of simplicity.

Voice Views: Other than the new friends you made, what do you think you’ll remember most about the experience?

Teana: Going into this journey, I prayed for experience and exposure, and I was granted both. However the experience piece, I believe, will have a lasting impact on me because it is now part of my journey. I will remember the time spent being in my element surrounded by other artists and all things Music. Receiving “the star” treatment of getting hair and makeup done to wardrobe in preparation for performances, interviews and photoshoots. I got a taste of what it’s like to be a star, and it felt like I was walking into my destiny. This experience gave me wings and with those wings I’m taking flight.
